About Southern Fishing Zone

Southern Fishing Zone on map

The Southern Fishing Zone contains most of the populated areas of Saskatchewan. Covering a whopping 75 million acres and containing 1461 lakes. Many of the most popular recreation lakes in the province are here in the south. Also, just because northern Saskatchewan is more popular with anglers from overseas and home to most of the fishing lodges, doesn't mean there aren't great fishing opportunities right here too!

Fishing in the Southern Fishing Zone

The fishing season within the Southern Fishing Zone is open from May 5, 2024 to March 31, 2025.

The following game fish can be found in the zone: Channel Catfish, Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, Rock Bass, Walleye, Lake Whitefish, Burbot, Stocked Trout and Sauger.
