Madge Lake

Madge Lake is a very popular lake in southern Saskatchewan within Duck Mountain Provinical Park. The lake is located 76km NE of Yorkton and 20km E of Kamsack. Access to the lake and its amenities is from Highway 57 which runs along the south shore.

Walleye, Northern Pike, White Sucker and Yellow Perch can be found in Madge Lake. The lake is periodically stocked with walleye fry. Please note: There is a custom limit for walleye on the lake.

This is a beautiful and large lake. There are six different campgrounds around. We stayed at Selwood Campground. It was very quiet. Only a few other people. We went paddle boarding in the morning and drank our coffee. The water is so clear. I definitely recommend visiting.

Walleye: (60 - 2410 g) Fair Pike: (386 - 7550 g) Good Perch: (35 - 105 g) Poor June 15 - 17. Gill nets. Decrease in walleye abundance from previous surveys with 16-year classes present. Natural reproduction occurring with strong three-year-old age class linked to 2019 fry stocking. Increase in pike abundance from previous survey with 10-year classes present. Natural reproduction occurring. Decrease in perch abundance, with most perch of forage size (<18.0 cm).

Walleye: (40 - 1570 g) Good Pike: (360 - 1545 g) Moderate Perch: (45 g) Sparse July 5 - 7 / Gill nets. Walleye and pike abundance is consistent with previous survey. Angling success for pike is reported as good. Perch were forage size (<18 cm).

Walleye: (90 - 1440 g) Moderate Pike: (210 - 1860 g) Good Perch: ( ? 18 cm) July 8 - 10 / Gill nets. The pike population is more abundant than encountered in previous surveys. Angling success for walleye reported as good. Perch were forage size (<18 cm) . Water level was extremely high at the time of the survey.
