The lake is in the central fishing zone. Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike and Walleye can be found in Parenteau Lake.

Granite Lake Recreation Site is 26km NNW, Jan Lake Recreation Site is 23km NNE and Leaf Rapids Recreation Site is 27km N of Parenteau Lake.
Parenteau Lake was named after Walter Joseph Parenteau on 1961-05-03 as part of the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program ran by the Sask Government.
