Scheelhaase Island Wildlife Refuge is 23km NNW, Limestone Lake Recreation Site is 22km SE and Hanson Lake Recreation Site is 15km SSW of Oatway Lake.
Oatway Lake was named after John Evered Oatway on 1951-01-17 as part of the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program ran by the Sask Government.
