Musker Trout Pond

Musker Pond is a small trout pond near the Resort Village of Candle Lake and just north of the Sandy Bay Campground.

It is stocked yearly with rainbow trout, there is no boat launch but it is suitable for paddlers. (Boat motors forbidden)

There is ample parking available (Provincial Park pass required), a fish cleaning hut, as well as a wheelchair-accessible dock for fishing. There is also a covered picnic area and a few fire pits.

The pond was named after William A. (Bill) Musker who had spina bifida and helped create the pond as a place for disabled anglers.

A short 1km hiking/walking path goes around the pond. In the winter the trail is groomed for cross-country skiing.

This is a great family-friendly destination, especially when Candle Lake is rough!

Really nice little trout pond just outside of the Resort Village. Has a walking trail around the pond, and an accessible fishing dock. Great place to visit when Candle Lake is too rough.

William A. (Bill) Musker

William A. (Bill) Musker (1931-89) grew up with spina bifida in Winnipeg. He worked with the fisheries branch of DNS from 1974-87.

Bill helped to create the trout pond that now bears his name as a facility for disabled anglers.
