Willows Reservoir

Willows Reservoir is a tiny (24 acre) reservoir located 8km E of Assiniboia and 90km SSW of Moose Jaw. Access is from a gravel road north of Highway 13.

This is a pretty spot, with lots of birds around when I stopped in.

There is no real launch on the reservoir, but it would be possible to get a canoe or kayak out there. No gas motors are allowed on the reservoir according to a sign nearby.

Walleye and Yellow Perch are listed as in the reservoir, but it hasn't been stocked in decades. The nearby Assiniboia Reservoir is still being regularly stocked. Note that there is a reduced perch limit sign at Willows Reservoir as well as Assiniboia Reservoir so it seems the province is regulating them both the same way.

In 1996 the reservoir was stocked with smallmouth bass but a population never established itself. The reservoir has a really interesting stocking history with walleye, rainbow trout, and even largemouth bass all stocked at various times.
