Fife Lake
Fife Lake is a very large lake in southern Saskatchewan. It is located 8.5km NE of Rockglen with access from Highway 18.
The lake is shallow, and has had significant fluctuations to the water level over the years.
Rockin Beach Regional Park is located on the southern end of Fife Lake. The park has a campground, ball diamonds, volleyball courts, hiking trails, and a boat launch and beach.
Walleye and White Sucker can be found in Fife Lake. The lake was well know for walleye fishing in the past, and was stocked regularly in the 70's and 80's. Lower water level impacted the fish population and the lake has only been stocked once in the last 40 years, in 2016.
Fife Lake is a significant nesting area for the Piping Plover and has been designated as critical Piping Plover habitat. The designation prevents development up to the high water mark on the lake. The lake is also regionally significant for a number of other waterbirds including western grebe, eared grebe, and the black-crowned night heron.
The primary inflow for the lake is Hay Meadow Creek which flows into the western side of the lake. Girard Creek is the main outflow for the lake and flows into the East Poplar River which eventually connects to the Poplar River and then the Missouri River in Montana.
