No fish stocked in Narrow Hills Provincial Park in 2025

Narrow Hills Provincial Park has had a very tough spring. The SHOE wildfire burnt through much of the park, shutting down the highways and the park itself for weeks. The park is now closed for the rest of the 2025 season, and it appears none of the lakes were stocked this year either.

The Saskatchewan Fish Hatchery was unable to stock the waters in Narrow Hills Provincial Park due to the fires and some waters around La Ronge and Creighton were also skipped. I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming that the trout lakes in Clarence and Steepbank Provincial Park as well as the ones outside the park (Singh Lake, Piprell Lake, etc) have also not been stocked this year.

Narrow Hills Provincial Park normally receives a large amount of the trout stocked every year in Saskatchewan. In fact over the last 5 years approximately 10% of the trout stocked int the entire province have gone into the park. The park is regularly stocked with rainbow trout, splake trout, brook trout, brown trout, and tiger trout. A few lakes are also stocked with walleye.

It will be very interesting to see where these fish have gone instead. I'm curious to see if some lakes that haven't been stocked for awhile will be stocked again, or if some lakes are going to receive a larger number then they usually get. I'm looking forward to seeing what the 2025 Stocked Waters Guide will look like in the fall.
