Water Security Agency Planning Upgrades to Candle Lake Control Structure
The Water Security Agency (WSA) is planning upgrades to the Candle Lake Control Structure to address ongoing erosion, improve the long-term stability of the structure, and help reduce the risk of fish becoming stranded.
The proposed project includes the construction of a new concrete stilling basin at the control structure. The upgrades are intended to improve the performance and reliability of the structure while continuing to support water management at Candle Lake.
Construction Planned for 2029-2030
Construction is expected to begin in late summer 2029, following the peak recreational season, and is anticipated to continue for approximately one year.
The project is expected to be completed by spring 2030.
According to the Water Security Agency, recreational users and boaters are not expected to be impacted during construction.
Public Comments Requested
The public is invited to provide comments regarding potential impacts to navigation as part of the project review process.
Comments can be submitted through Transport Canada's Common Project Search website using Registry Number 14842.
