Splake Trout

Ranger Lake is a tiny fishing lake stocked with Splake Trout. This is a really pretty little lake but isn't the easiest to find or get to.

It's quite close to Candle Lake and works well as a day trip to do some paddling or fishing!

The lake is located 35km N of the Resort Village of Candle Lake just past Heritage Lake. It is accessible down an ATV trail off of Highway 913 (gravel).

The turn-off from the highway is not marked so you'll need to go slow and keep your eyes open. You can leave a vehicle near the turn-off and either hike or ATV down to the lake. I've marked the turn-off on the map.

Ranger Lake is stocked with Splake Trout every second year.

Ridge Lake is a tiny stocked trout lake in Clarence-Steepbank Lakes Provincial Park.

The lake was impacted by the SHOE Fire in 2025 and I don't have any updated photos from after the fire.

It is accessible off the sand road that runs through the park. There is a trail into the lake, and you're not able to drive in the whole way. A launch site at the lake is suitable for smaller boats and canoes/kayaks if you carry them in.

The lake is stocked with Brook Trout every year.
