The sauger is a close cousin of the walleye and closely resembles it, but are often smaller and more slender.

Sauger can be identified-and distinguished from walleye-by the two or three rows of black spots found on their dorsal fin. They can grow to about 40 centimetres and weigh up to 900 grams.

Sask Record Sauger

The Sask angling record for a Sauger (7lb 13oz) was caught in the South Saskatchewan River in 1990.
