Anglin Lake

Anglin Lake is a large (3,334 acre) top-rated recreational lake located 23km NNW of the Village of Christopher Lake and 59km NNW of Prince Albert. The lake is accessible from Highway 953.

The many amenities, trails, location and natural beauty of the lake make this a popular destination. Although it's a decent sized lake, it's split up into several sections making it a great paddling and boating destination.

The far west part of the lake is within Prince Albert National Park with the rest of the lake in Great Blue Heron Provincial Park.

There are several campgrounds, three boat launches, the community of Anglin Lake, and many kilometres of hiking/biking/cross-country ski trails at the lake.

Walleye, Northern Pike, White Sucker and Yellow Perch can be found in Anglin Lake. The lake is stocked periodically with walleye.

The current lake is actually a reservoir created by a dam on the Spruce River that backed up the river and connected several smaller lakes resulting in the lake we know today.

Lots of shacks out at Land of the Loon Resort and the subdivision boat launch. Looks like trucks have been out on the ice at both locations as well.

Parking lot is not cleared, but you can get through if your vehicle has enough clearance. Lots of shacks right off the boat launch.

I basically grew up at the lake. Ive spent uncountable amount of hours and days exploring all this lake has to offer. kinda view my self as a subject location expert on this lake. Sad as a huge portion of the lake is old growth and starting to fall in the wind... in a decade or two it will be stunning again

Put the canoes in at the bridge and paddled up to Anderson Point Campground for a swim before heading back. It was a beautiful day and a great paddle. Since Anglin is split up into several smaller lakes it makes it a nice lake to paddle.

How it got its name

There is an Anglin township in Nipissing Co., Ontario, and Anglin is a not uncommon surname. It has also been suggested that an old map exists which shows the name as Angling ("fishing") Lake.
