The lake is in the northern fishing zone. Burbot, Cisco, Lake Whitefish, Longnose Sucker, Northern Pike, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch can be found in Torwalt Lake.

Wollaston Lake (Hidden Bay) Recreation Site is 22km N of Torwalt Lake.
Torwalt Lake was named after Rheinhold Torwalt on 1960-01-21 as part of the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program ran by the Sask Government.
