The lake is in the central fishing zone. Cisco, Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike and Walleye can be found in Toppings Lake.

Toppings Lake was named after Irving John Toppings on 1951-07-05 as part of the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program ran by the Sask Government.
