With Saskatchewan’s thousands of picturesque lakes also comes thousands of beautiful beaches to explore. Whether you’re looking for a spot to gather with friends or a quiet afternoon to yourself, there is most likely a great beach not too far away. The following guide can help narrow down your beach options for the perfect summer getaway.

We chose the following beaches so there is something for every type of beach-goer: some are easily accessible with shops and restaurants, while others are more remote for a quieter, wilder experience.

Little Manitou Lake Beach

Little Manitou Lake, Southern Saskatchewan, SE of Saskatoon off Highway 2, just 6km N of Watrous.

If you want a “Dead Sea of Canada” experience, Saskatchewan has got you covered! Little Manitou Lake may appear as any other Saskatchewan lake at first sight, but its extremely rich mineral content makes it possible to simply lay back in the water and float! This is one you won’t want to miss as there are only two other waterbodies like it on earth.

Good Spirit Lake Beach

Good Spirit Lake, Southern Saskatchewan, 50km NNW of Yorkton off Highway 16.

The incredibly beautiful beaches at Good Spirit Lake are one of a kind in Saskatchewan with fine white sand and weedless bottoms. There are warmer shallow spots for families with young children to enjoy as well and the park is known for its natural sand dunes and the Dune Discovery Interpretive Trail. The Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park beach was even recognized as one of Canada’s Top Ten Beaches to visit by Maclean’s Magazine.

Waskesiu Lake in Prince Albert National Park is one of the most popular destinations for beach-goers during the hot summers of Saskatchewan. The quaint resort town offers all amenities with campgrounds, cabins, boat and bike rentals, restaurants, shops, playgrounds, and much more! Take a stroll along the shoreline paths or out onto the pier, have a picnic in one of the covered table areas and play boche on the lawns, or fly a kite out over the cool waters.

While the Main Beach is fun for lots of action and activities, Waskesiu also offers many more beaches to explore, whether you’re interested in taking in multiple beaches in a day or finding a quieter spot to relax. Starting at the Main Beach, head clockwise around the lake to find Murphy’s Bay Beach, South Bay Beach, Trippes Beach, Paignton Beach, and Narrows Beach at the far end; head counter-clockwise to find Beaver Glen Beach, Point View Beach, and Birch Bay Beach.

Nestled between Jackfish Lake and Murray Lake on a narrow strip of land, Cochin Public Beach has sandy shores, bathrooms and a public dock to fish for walleye and northern pike, but what sets this beach apart is its proximity to the only lighthouse in all of Saskatchewan. The fully functional lighthouse situated high on Pirot Hill features incredible panoramic views of the lakes and area. After a fun day on the beach, take a vigorous climb up the 153 steps to the lighthouse to enjoy a breathtaking sunset.

Regina Beach

Last Mountain Lake, Southern Saskatchewan, 54km NNW of Regina by way of Highway 11 and 54.

Along the shores of the largest naturally occurring lake in southern Saskatchewan, Regina Beach is one of the most popular destinations for fun in the sun. There you can rent kayaks, paddle boards, PFDs, games, pontoon boats, and more! Or take a walk along the pier and enjoy the view from the viewing tower, or fish for a bigmouth buffalo, a unique fish found in only eight spots in the province. The quaint resort town of Regina Beach also offers restaurants and boutique shops for a nice afternoon stroll.

Accessibility: Saskatchewan Provincial Parks has added a beach mat and floating beach wheelchair for those with mobility limitations.

Jeff’s Beach

Candle Lake, Central Saskatchewan, 72km N of Prince Albert off Highway 265 and 120.

Jeff’s Beach is a beautiful long sandy beach, shallow enough for kids to enjoy. This more secluded beach is only accessible by boat or by parking at Minowukaw Campground and walking across the Candle Lake Dam and along a short trail.

Candle Lake offers other popular and beautiful beaches along its shores like Sandy Bay Beach and Minowukaw Beach.
