Jackfish Lake
Jackfish Lake is a massive, shallow lake in the southern fishing zone in Saskatchewan. It is located 35km NNW of North Battleford and is accessible from Highways 4, 26, 697, 674, 769 and 204.
Battlefords Provincial Park is located along the northeast shore of the lake and Meota Regional Park is on the southern shore.
The Battlefords Provincial Park has several beaches, over 300 campsites, hiking trails, and a golf course. The Meota Regional Park has a beach, swimming pool, ball diamonds, more than 100 campsites, mini-golf and trails. Another golf course is adjacent to the regional park.
There are many communities around the lake including the village of Meota, the Resort Villages of Metinota, Cochin, and Aquadeo, as well as the hamlets of Lakeview, Trevessa Beach, Day's Beach, West Chatfield Beach, Bayview Heights, and Martinson's Beach. The Saulteaux 159 Reserve also borders a section of the eastern shore.
Walleye, Northern Pike, Cisco, Burbot, White Sucker, Longnose Sucker, Lake Whitefish and Yellow Perch can be found in Jackfish Lake. The lake has been stocked with walleye in the past, most recently in the 90's.
The main outflow for the lake is the Jackfish River and flows from the south shore. A dam built in 1966 controls the water level on the lake at this outlet.
Charette Creek, Jackfish Creek, and Lehman Creek all flow into Jackfish Lake.

How it got its name
The jackfish, or northern pike, is plentiful in the lake, which was shown as Pike Lake on most early maps (including David Thompson's in 1814). Both terms are a translation of the Cree name for the lake.
