Nickle Lake
Nickle Lake is a popular recreational lake in southern Saskatchewan, it also serves as the water supply for the City of Weyburn. The lake is located 10km SSE of Weyburn. Access to the lake and amenities is from Highway 39.
The lake is actually a man-made reservoir along the course of the Souris River. It was created when a dam was built across the river in the 1950's in order to supply water to Weyburn. In 1984 the new Albert Douglas Dam was built to replace the older dam.
Nickle Lake Regional Park is located on the eastern shore of Nickle Lake. It has a campground with around 350 campsites, a beach, picnic areas, mini golf and two boat launches. There is a designated shore fishing area, and a very nice walkway along the shore of the lake. This is a very nicely maintained regional park!
Walleye, Northern Pike, White Sucker and Yellow Perch can be found in Nickle Lake. It is periodically stocked with walleye.
Two main inflows are the Souris River and Rinfret Brook which both enter the lake at the north end. The Souris River leaves the lake at the Albert Douglas Dam on the south end.

The Albert Douglas Dam was built after Albert Douglas, who was the first person born in Briercrest Saskatchewan. He was a local farmer and served as an MP in parliament.
