Time to Renew Your Saskatchewan Angling Licence for 2026-27 Season

All current 2025-26 Saskatchewan angling licences expire on March 31, 2026. After that a 2026-27 Saskatchewan angling licence will be required.

March 31st is also the last day of the 2025-26 season in the Southern and Central Zones. The Northern Zone is open until April 15 2026, but a 2026-27 licence is required after March 31st. You'll also need the new licence if you plan on fishing any of the stocked trout ponds that are open year round for fishing.

Renewal Options

Angling licences can be renewed:

  • Online through your HAL account (auto-renewal is recommended)
  • At any Saskatchewan angling licence issuer
  • At a Government of Saskatchewan field office or select provincial park offices
  • By phone at 1-855-848-4773 (8 a.m. to 9 p.m. allow 10 business days for delivery)

New This Year: Angling Habitat Certificate

Beginning with the 2026-27 season, all anglers purchasing licences will also need to purchase a Angling Habitat Certificate:

The Angling Habitat Certificate will cost:

  • $20 for annual licences
  • $5 for one- or three-day licences

If you also hunt and already purchase a Wildlife Habitat Certificate, you only pay once. Saskatchewan residents who don't require a licence, those under 16, over 65 as of April 1, and veterans will not require a Certificate.

Why It Matters

Revenue from the Habitat Certificate goes to the Fish and Wildlife Development Fund, supporting the Saskatchewan Fish Hatchery, fish stocking programs, and invasive species prevention. Renewing your licence isn't just about following the rules, it's helping sustain fish populations for everyone.

Quick Reminder Checklist for Anglers

  • Check if your licence is set to auto-renew
  • Make sure your Angling Habitat Certificate is included (I'm not sure how this works yet, but will provide an update on March. 1st when my licence auto-renews)
  • Plan your first fishing trip and enjoy the season!
