Teen Brothers Win 2026 Sask Landing Walleye Tournament on Lake Diefenbaker
Two Regina brothers have continued an impressive summer on the Saskatchewan tournament fishing circuit, winning the 2026 Sask Landing Walleye Tournament on Lake Diefenbaker just weeks after capturing the Riverhurst Walleye Classic.
Nineteen-year-old Winston Stockdale and his 16-year-old brother Will Stockdale topped a field of 73 teams with a two-day catch weighing 37.97 pounds.
The victory marks back-to-back Saskatchewan Walleye Trail wins for the brothers and adds another title to Winston's growing tournament résumé. He previously won the Sask Landing Walleye Tournament alongside his father, Jay Stockdale, in 2023.
"It was a dream come true," Winston said following the tournament. "I've been fishing for so many years. Sometimes it goes your way, and today it did."
The brothers' winning weekend was highlighted by Winston landing the tournament's second-largest fish a 9.43-pound walleye on Sunday which helped secure first place.
Their win earned the team approximately $10,000 in prize money.
Another Strong Showing for Lake Diefenbaker
Held each summer at Sask Landing Provincial Park, the tournament showcases the quality of walleye fishing found on Lake Diefenbaker and attracts anglers from across Saskatchewan and beyond.
While organizers typically see around 100 entries, this year's event featured 73 teams. Tournament board member Cory Hodgins said higher travel and fuel costs may have contributed to the smaller field.
Despite the lower participation, anglers once again demonstrated the exceptional fishing opportunities available on one of Saskatchewan's premier fishing destinations.
Saskatchewan Walleye Trail Continues
The Sask Landing Walleye Tournament is one stop on the Saskatchewan Walleye Trail, a series of competitive fishing events held throughout the province each summer.
The next event on the schedule is the Saskatchewan Premier's Walleye Cup, taking place August 6–8 at Tobin Lake near Nipawin.
