Helene Lake

Helene Lake is a very large shallow lake located 23km NNE of Glaslyn and 67km SSE of Meadow Lake (City).

The lake is accessible down a fairly poor gravel road off of Highway 4. Signage is poor and the road can get quite muddy.

There is a provincial recreation site with no amenities on the lake, other then an older boat launch with no dock.

The Saulteaux 159A reserve borders part of the lake on the southeast side.

Helene Lake has historically been stocked with Walleye. It was first stocked in 1933, and was periodically stocked until 2009 when it was stocked for the last time. According to the 2015 Fish Facts the lake suffered a complete winter kill of all Walleye. I haven't heard anything more recently of the fishing on the lake.

The outflow for the lake is a river that flows out of the south-west corner into Midnight Lake.
