McLennan Lake Recreation Site is 23km SSW, Lac La Ronge Provincial Park is 50km NNE, Devil Lake Recreation Site is 24km ENE and Dickens Lake Recreation Site is 17km E of Fearnside Lake.
Fearnside Lake was named after James Fearnside on 1957-10-03 as part of the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program ran by the Sask Government.
