The lake is in the northern fishing zone. Arctic Grayling, Burbot, Cisco, Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike, Round Whitefish, White Sucker and Yellow Perch can be found in Cluff Lake.

Cluff Lake was named after John Murray Cluff on 1956-03-01 as part of the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program ran by the Sask Government.
