The lake is in the central fishing zone. Burbot, Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike and Walleye can be found in Zander Lake.

Zander Lake was named after Donald Zander on 1958-06-05 as part of the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program ran by the Sask Government.
