The lake is in the northern fishing zone. Arctic Grayling, Burbot, Cisco, Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Longnose Sucker, Northern Pike, Walleye and White Sucker can be found in Yalowega Lake.

Yalowega Lake was named after John Yalowega on 1964-02-27 as part of the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program ran by the Sask Government.
