Visited Patience Lake
May 6, 2025This lake is on the highway to my parents and I travel it regularly. I believe this lake is a mine run off and does not have any fish in it. As of today, the water level is a little lower than last summer. I visit here often to hunt for bones and rocks.
Visited Lake Diefenbaker
May 3, 2025Today we visited Lake Diefenbaker via Danielson Provincial Park. We decided to hike part of the Trans Canada Trail, and accomplished 8,8km in and out, just under 2 hours. The trail was clear, but had lots of animal droppings and prints. The ticks were really bad during the first kilometer, but after that it was fine. Trees are beginning to bud, and the lake has no ice.
Visited Blackstrap Lake
April 26, 2025There is quite a bit of ice on the lake still, however there is water on the provincial park side of the lake. We decided to take the hike at Fisherman's Point to Sunset Shores, however there were four very large snowdrifts that we traversed through. I definitely will be going back to do some fishing in the upcoming months.
Visited Pike Lake
April 18, 20251st hike of the season. The Gift of Green trail was completely accessible. There were a couple areas that were a little muddy but nothing to worry about. The marsh water was the clearest I've ever seen it, and I watch some water beetles diving. There was a lot of elk droppings on the trail and we had a couple encounters with chickadees, chipmunks, and a squirrel.
