The lake is in the northern fishing zone. Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike and Walleye can be found in Pyett Lake.

Courtenay Lake Recreation Site is 21km ENE of Pyett Lake.
Pyett Lake was named after Frederick Earl Pyett on 1957-06-06 as part of the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program ran by the Sask Government.
