First fish stocking of 2026 took place recently at Sealey Lake

The first fish stocking of 2026 took place recently in Saskatchewan, and it was a lake that got missed last year due to the wildfires!

Last week, Sealey Lake was stocked with brook trout and rainbow trout, but instead of the usual open-water release, this one happened through the ice. By stocking this way the Hatchery is able to access waters that aren't as easy to access by truck.

No lakes in Narrow Hills Provincial park were stocked last year due to the wildfires, so it's really exciting to the hatchery getting back out there!

There wasn't any mention of how many fish were stocked this year, but historically they have been putting 12,000 rainbow trout and 9,000 brook trout in each year.

You can learn more about the stocking program here in Saskatchewan and view recently stocked waters here.
