Abandoned Ice Fishing Shelter Left on Last Mountain Lake

Update: Owner has been identified!

Conservation offices are looking for help identifying the owner of an ice fishing shelter that was left frozen into Last Mountain Lake last week.

Regina conservation officers discovered an unmarked ice fishing shelter frozen into Last Mountain Lake near Grandview Beach on March 17, 2026. The shelter has not yet been removed, and authorities have been unable to determine its owner.

Abandoned ice fishing shelters can create both environmental and safety hazards. According to regulations, all ice fishing shelters placed on waters south of Highway 16 were required to be removed by March 15.

Officers are asking anyone with information about the shelter's ownership to contact the Turn-In-Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line at 1-800-667-7561. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 through the SaskTIP Reward Program.
