Ice Fishing Shack Destroyed by Fire on Last Mountain Lake Near Regina Beach

Conservation officers are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed an ice fishing shelter on Last Mountain Lake over the weekend.

The incident occurred on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m., near the community of Regina Beach.

Shelter Engulfed in Flames

According to officials, the structure was a white, aluminum-sided Vanguard slide-in truck camper being used as an ice fishing shelter. Witnesses reported seeing an older white four-door long-box truck towing the unit shortly before the incident.

The truck, described as having visible rust and possibly carrying a generator or welder in the bed, was seen unhooking the shelter and leaving the area. Moments later, the shack became fully engulfed in flames.

The fire completely destroyed the shelter, leaving burned debris scattered across the lake ice.

Public Asked for Information

Conservation officers initially asked the public for help in identifying both the owner of the shelter and the driver of the vehicle involved. A reward of up to $2,000 was offered through the Turn-In Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) program for information leading to an arrest or conviction.

Update: Owner Identified

Thanks to tips from the public, the owner of the ice fishing shelter has now been identified. The investigation remains ongoing as officers determine whether charges will be laid and what cleanup measures may be required.

Anyone with additional information is still encouraged to contact the TIPP line at 1-800-667-7561. Calls can be made anonymously.
