Traffic Restricted on Highway 263 for Bridge Repairs in Prince Albert National Park

Visitors to Prince Albert National Park should be aware of traffic restrictions and a temporary area closure beginning February 23, 2026.

According to a public notice issued on the National Parks Bulletin page, traffic on Highway 263 (the scenic highway) will be reduced to a single lane due to bridge repairs. The restriction is in place between the Freight Tait Springs trailhead parking lot and the Spruce River Highlands trailhead parking lot. The single-lane traffic will remain in effect until further notice.

In addition, the Freight Tait Springs parking lot and trail are closed to the public and restricted to authorized personnel only while bridge repairs are underway in the adjacent area.

Park officials advise visitors to plan accordingly and expect potential delays when traveling through the area.

For more information, visitors can contact the park at 306-663-4522.

Scenic Highway

Highway 263 also known as the scenic highway is one of my favourite drives in the province. Winding through the trees from community of Waskesiu south through the park past several lakes to the southern edge of the park. You can see a video I took while driving the highway earlier this winter below.
