Maintenance Work at Cutarm Creek Dam to Close Reservoir to Anglers This Spring

Maintenance work on the Cutarm Creek Dam that will affect the spillway and water flows in and out of the Cutarm Reservoir is scheduled for this spring, and provincial authorities are warning anglers and ice users to take note.

Normally the ice fishing season would have ended March 31st but because of the work, the reservoir will be closed to all angling from March 16 to May 5 to protect the safety of anglers and anyone accessing the ice or water. During that period, water levels and flows may change unexpectedly as crews carry out repairs and maintenance on the spillway structure.

In preparation for the closure and warming ice conditions, officials are also reminding the public that all unattended ice fishing shacks must be removed by March 1. After that date, any structures left on the ice may be removed by authorities to prevent hazards as the season shifts toward spring.

The closure and removal deadlines are intended to reduce risks to public safety and to protect recreational infrastructure around the reservoir. Anglers are encouraged to plan their activities accordingly and stay updated on any further notices related to the dam work.
