Naming Ceremony
A naming ceremony will take place Monday September 8, 2025 on what would have been Roberts' 47th birthday. The North Saskatchewan Regiment had this update on the time/location for the ceremony:
- The dedication ceremony will begin at 2pm at the memorials beside the swim beach.
- The Cairns in place are to Chief Mistiwasis and Chief Ahtakakoop, and to World War veterans.
- Once the initial ceremony and speaking is complete, the procession will move down to the bridge that spans the bay, where the memorial plaque will be unveiled.
Sask GeoMemorial Naming Program
Thousands of lakes, islands, bays and other geographical features across the province have been named in honour of those who lost their lives in the service of Saskatchewan and Canada through the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program.
The majority of the people commemorated through the program lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars. Several lakes and other features have been named after more recent deaths including Gordan Lake named after Lawrence Samuel Gordan in 2016, Dreveny Lake named after Pavel Dreveny in 2016, Goddard Lake named after Nichola Kathleen Sarah Goddard in 2015 and now Roberts Bay on Memorial Lake after Joshua Brian Roberts.
