HI Cindy, The provincial campground and boat launch at East Trout Lake changed to private quite a number of years ago. Sorry I cannot remember the exact timeline or year but my rough guess would be around 20 years or so that the provincial governement ceased operating them. The beach fees charged by Eagle Bay Resort are new, they just started charging them summer 2024 and they can charge them because that beach is located on their property. I have a cabin at East Trout and have been going there for 50 years and even back in the 1970s when my Grandparents owned Bay Resort (that is the original name before it became Eagle Bay) that beach was part of that privately owned property. It is their choice whether to maintain it, allow/regulate use or to charge a fee. Cheers.

SPIN net lake trout population assessment. Lake trout abundance is low, but with a range of sizes present including some mature fish. Walleye were abundant in shallow water areas. Burbot were present in deep water areas in low abundance.
