The lake is in the central fishing zone. Burbot, Cisco, Lake Whitefish, Longnose Sucker, Northern Pike, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch can be found in Bigstone Lake.
Air Ronge (Village) is adjacent the lake. Bigstone Lake is partially within Little Hills 158 (Reserve).
Lac La Ronge Provincial Park is 50km SW of Bigstone Lake.
The lake was officially named on 1968-09-24.
