Heads up!
Matt here, I'm going to be out of cell service till the 20th at the earliest.
Most of SaskLakes is automated and updates on its own, but some content/updates may be delayed, and I won't be able to respond to any emails/messages till I get back.
Thanks for your patience!
Prairie Fishing Report Week 9 2023
August 24, 2023-The right kind of net
A key component to catch and release is picking the right landing net. Buy one large enough so a 30 inch walleye or 40 inch pike can lay flat on the bottom of it. Select a net with fine, rubber coated mesh. It protects the slime coat on the fish and reduces the chances of splitting a fish’s fins. Fine mesh also prevents big expensive lures from shooting through the net, reducing the chances of damage. Finally, hold the fish in the net in the water over the side of the boat. The fish can breathe and destress while you unhook it and prepare for your photo and release. Go to getfishing.ca for more.
