The Resort Village of Candle Lake is located on the southwest end of the lake. The village boasts a very significant summertime population and offers many services including a clinic, bank, restaurants, ice-cream shops, gas stations, and groceries.
Walleye, Lake Sturgeon, Northern Pike, Cisco, Burbot, White Sucker, Longnose Sucker, Lake Whitefish and Yellow Perch can be found in Candle Lake. **Please note there is a custom limit for walleye on the lake**. The lake has not been stocked in the last 30 years.
The water level on Candle Lake is regulated by a concrete dam built in 1978-79 located at the south-east corner of the lake on Hanson Bay. The dam is managed by the Water Security Agency and discharges into the Torch River. A fish ladder was constructed in 2002 to make allow fish travel between the Torch River and Candle Lake for spawning, which was impossible after the dam was first built.
