In 1982 I canoed the Wapaskuia River To Steephiil. I was out about a week and by myself. It was the most remote I had ever been when I dislocated my shoulder. If I had not gotten it back in place the wolves would have been knawing on my bones. I couldn't have paddled or portage. Steephill is a remote wilderness lake. No sign of civilization. No cabins, campgrounds, roads in or out that I saw. I camped on an island 3 days allowing my shoulder to rest and start to heal. I then paddled the Reindeer River to Raindeer Lake where I ended my trip and caught a ride on 102 back to the Cree village where I left my vehicle. The trip taught me not to attempt such a strenuous trip solo.
🎣 2 catches – Northern Pike (7lb), Walleye (4lb)
