Fire ban and some area restrictions lifted in Prince Albert National Park

The fire ban in the Prince Albert National Park has now been lifted effective June 19, 2025. Most of the wildfire area closures have also been lifted, with only the Kingsmere Wilderness Area still closed.

This is great news as we get closer to the July Long Weekend and as free access to the National Parks starts tomorrow (June 20th).

Areas Now Open

Most of the areas of the park that had been closed due to wildfire risk have also re-opened. Areas now open include:

  • The Narrows Road
  • Sandy Lake, Namekus Lake, and the Narrows Campgrounds
  • Valleyview Trails
  • All trails on Highway 263 and Cookson Road
  • All lakes, except Kingsmere Lake
  • All backcountry areas, except the Kingsmere Wilderness Area.

Kingsmere Wilderness Area remains closed

This includes:

  • The Grey Owl Trail and Kingsmere River Trail.
  • Kingsmere River, Kingsmere Lake, and the Bagwa canoe route.
  • The Kingsmere Road West of the Narrows Peninsular Trailhead.
