First stocking trip of the year for the Saskatchewan Fish Hatchery

Mekewap Lake in the Lac La Ronge Provincial Park was stocked with tiger trout and rainbow trout through the ice a few weeks ago. This was the first lake stocked during the 2025 season and it's great to see the awesome folks from the Hatchery doing their work.

Hundreds of lakes and other waters are stocked by the Saskatchewan Fish Hatchery every year. Last year, over 8.6 million fish were stocked into 145 waters across the province. If you're interested in the very important work that the Hatchery is doing, they offer tours at their location on Echo Lake from May 1st to Labour Day every year.
