The lake is in the central fishing zone. Burbot, Cisco, Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Longnose Sucker, Northern Pike, Sauger, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch can be found in Iskwatam Lake.

The lake was officially named on 1986-12-15. The name Iskwatam Lake is of Cree origin.
