First Mustus Lake
First Mustus Lake is a medium-sized fishing lake in Meadow Lake Provincial Park. The lake is located 7.8km W of Greig Lake and 42km NW of Meadow Lake (City).
First Mustus Lake is one of four Mustus lakes in the Rusty Creek watershed. The other lakes are Second Mustus Lake, Third Mustus Lake, and finally Fourth Mustus Lake.
First Mustus Lake and Second Mustus Lake are both accessible from Highway 224 (gravel) which runs along the south end of the lakes.
There is a boat launch just off the highway with a cement ramp, dock, fish filleting shack and outhouse.
First Mustus Lake has a reservation-only campground for environmental education groups. It has a solar-powered water system, composting toilets, food lockers, tent sites, a culvert barbecue, and a picnic shelter. Other nearby campgrounds available to the public are located Grieg Lake and Kimball Lake.
Walleye, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, Burbot, Cisco and Lake Whitefish can be found in First Mustus Lake. Please note there is a custom limit for Walleye in the lake and all other lakes with Walleye in Meadow Lake Provincial Park.
First Mustus Lake has two main inflows; Dennis Creek flows into the north-east corner of the lake and the river from the other Mustus Lakes flows into the west end of First Mustus Lake. From the south-east corner of First Mustus Lake Rusty Creek flows into Rusty Lake.
