Cold Lake Provincial Park is 29km NE and Meadow Lake Provincial Park is 58km WNW of Dakin Lake.
Dakin Lake was named after Thomas Dunbar Dakin on 1950-03-02 as part of the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program ran by the Sask Government.
