Wakaw Lake Water Update - July 22, 2026

I was sent a quick update on the water situation at Wakaw Lake.

It sounds like yesterday, July 21st: Saskatchewan Public Health tested for algae blooms at the Regional Park Beach, Poplar Beach, and Hoodoo Beach. No algae blooms were identified at these locations. That doesn’t mean there aren’t algae blooms anywhere on the lake, just not at those locations when they tested.

In regards to the dead fish, public health said that fish kills can occur naturally and are pretty common in Saskatchewan lakes and dead fish does not automatically indicate an algae bloom.
