2024-PFR7-Caring for your catch-August 1
I’m Jason Matity with getfishing.ca. There’s nothing worse than catching a nice limit of 14-18 inch walleye only to let them die and get rigour mortis before you clean them and eat them. Keeping your fish fresh is critical, especially in the summer when bacteria runs rampant. Keep your fish alive by running freshwater through the Livewell constantly. Better yet, bleed and subdue your fish and put them in a big cooler on ice as soon as they are caught. That way they will stay cool and fresh so that they taste the best when you fillet and cook them.
