We have always wanted to video the Eagle in the Kahkewistahaw First Nation area in the Qu'appelle Valley, and yesterday was the day! The leaves have started turning color; fall is around the corner! I love how the Qu'appelle River winds through the Qu'appelle Valley! Kahkewistahaw First Nation is a Saulteaux- and Cree-speaking First Nation in southern Saskatchewan. The name Kahkewistahaw means "Eagle flying in the air". Kahkewistahaw is located 15km north of Broadview, Saskatchewan, along Highway 201 and next to the Qu'Appelle Valley. The band is named for Cree chief Kahkewistahaw. In September 1874, Kahkewistahaw himself signed Treaty 4, which established reserves for each signatory tribe. In 1881, the tribe's reserve was surveyed; it was situated on the south side of the Qu'Appelle Valley, between Round Lake and Crooked Lake. Song Credit Lynyrd Skynyrd "Free Bird" (Released as a Single in November 1974). Instrumental Credit Mia Ally @MiaxAlly on YouTube.
