East of Ellisboro and north of Wolseley, Saskatchewan Qu'appelle Valley and River
A brief update: Lee is recovering well from his shoulder surgery, and while he's out of commission, I've been keeping myself busy. I've saved some footage to work on while Lee rests. This particular area of the Qu'Appelle Valley is located east of Ellisboro, and Wolseley, Saskatchewan is south. We visited this area just over a week ago, when the upper regions of the Valley experienced some frost. During our visit, I captured footage of Canadian Geese swimming in the Qu'Appelle River. Interestingly, some Canadian Geese choose to remain in the Qu'Appelle Valley during the winter months due to the relatively mild conditions, accessible agricultural fields with leftover grain, and open water sources, such as rivers and man-made ponds or golf courses. These factors provide sufficient food and refuge, especially in light of modern climate shifts, which have resulted in less severe winters, allowing 'resident' geese, often Giant Canada Geese, or facultative migrants to remain in the area if their basic needs are met.
