Echo Lake
Echo Lake is a large recreational and fishing lake located 67km NE of Regina in the Qu'Appelle River Valley.
There are multiple communities, several campgrounds and beaches, and a provincial park on the lake. Echo Lake is a year-round destination and popular with vacationers and residents.
It is one of the four Fishing Lakes ([Pasqua Lake](/pasqua-lake/), Echo Lake, [Mission Lake](/mission-lake-southern-zone-1/), and [Katepwa Lake](/katepwa-lake/)). Pasqua Lake is upstream and Mission Lake is downstream from Echo Lake. The water level on the lake is controlled by a dam located on the river between Echo Lake and Mission Lake.
Highway 56 runs along the north shore of the lake, and Highway 210 runs along the south.
Echo Valley Provincial Park is on the west side between Echo Lake and Pasqua Lake. Standing Buffalo 78 Reserve is located just north of the provincial park.
The town of Fort Qu'Appelle is the largest community on Echo Lake and provides all services. It is on the east end of the lake between Echo Lake and Mission Lake. There are also two Resort Villages: B-Say-Tah on the south and Fort San on the north of the lake.
Like the rest of the fishing lakes a large number of different game species can be found in Echo Lake including: Bigmouth Buffalo, Burbot, Cisco, Common Carp, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch.
The Saskatchewan Fish Hatchery is also located at Echo Lake and offers tours during the summer! Well worth checking out if you can!
