Round Lake
Round Lake is a very popular recreational and fishing lake located 85km S of Yorkton.
The north shore has quite a few cabins and active resort communities. There is a campground at Birds Point as well as other seasonal campgrounds, resorts, and a marina.
The eastern, southern, and western shores of the are all parts of Ochapowace Reserve and part of the northeastern shore is in Kahkewistahaw Reserve.
Round Lake has a huge number of fish species present. It is also one of only a few lakes in the province that has [Rock Bass](/fishing/rock-bass/). The protected [Bigmouth Buffalo](/fishing/bigmouth-buffalo/) can also be found in the lake. Other species in the lake include include: Burbot, Channel Catfish, Cisco, Common Carp, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch.
Like the rest of the lakes in the Qu'Appelle Valley the water level is maintained by a dam at the east end of the lake operated by the Water Security Agency. The dam was originally built in 1941 and was renovated in 1973 and 2000.
