I love a lake that freezes smooth enough for a skate! One of my favourite times on the lake! Be safe out there and don’t try this at home! Ice is never totally safe and early ice can be particularly dangerous. I’m only in about a foot of water and I’m on a lake I’m very familiar with. Always check ice thickness before venturing out!
