2025-26 fishing season now open in the southern zone

As of May 5th, the 2025-26 fishing season is now open in the southern zone here in Saskatchewan. Don't let the name fool you, either; this zone covers a good chunk of the populated parts of the province and nearly 1500 lakes!

Make sure you have your 2025-26 fishing license before heading out. You should also have a copy of the Anglers Guide and make sure your following all rules and regulations for the various waterbodies out there.

If you're not sure where to fish, check out the SaskLakes Search to find lakes near you, filter by species, stocking status and more!

The central zone opens on May 15th, the northern zone on May 25th, and the Prince Albert National Park fishing season starts on May 17th. Please note that a separate license and different rules/regulations apply for fishing in the National Park.
